We have an amazing story to share with you. A few months ago we had a woman named A***** (She has asked us to not share her name or photo on the internet so we are respecting her request) come in through our gate at our office. I knew nothing about her. As she walked past the window of the room I was sitting in at our office I hear God as plain as day say, “Don’t let her leave hungry”. I knew what He meant. He wanted me to share the good news of what Jesus had done for her.
We found an interpreter to help us communicate together. Her story was this … someone came to her village and told them that they were going to take people with HIV to the city to get healed of the disease and then they would take them to another country where they would find work. Desperate to be healed, A*** got in the vehicle and traveled with these people. As they neared our city they questioned the health of all the women to see if they would be fit for the work they would be bringing them to. A**** didn’t make the cut so they dropped her off in our city and left her there and took all her things ; so she had nothing and nowhere to stay. She had been sleeping at the hospital outside on the ground for a few nights trying to find her way home. She started crying. She just wanted to go home.
We gave her a dress and allowed her to shower and fed her some lunch. She was so grateful. It is what Jesus would have done. So we loved her like God and Jesus do. After she ate we talked for the next 2.5 to 3 hours about Lucifers fall from heaven, Adam and Eve’s decision to listen Satan and turn their backs on God. Gods promise to send a savior to make a way for them to one day come back home to Him. Their removal from the garden, the angel blocking the way as a reminder they could never get back in without the savior. God sending Jesus to become our sin, then to take our punishment for sin. To be washed clean and made new born again in the waters of baptism. Dying to self, rising new. The old gone the new has come. Transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His beloved Son.
We taught her that she is a brand new creation. That the punishment for sin would be paid in full and she would be set free. If the Son has set you free then you are free indeed. We told her if she believed that she would be new she would be healed even of HIV/AIDS. She wanted to go back home to her city but more than that she wanted to go back home to her Father Yaweh. To be loved and protected by Him. She asked why cannot I go home now? So we took her and baptized her in the local pool, all of us in our clothes. Now is the time of salvation, today is the day.
We were so happy for her. We sent her home the next day on the bus to her home. She was so so happy. She was going to tell everyone what she had found. Her Father and a joy she hadn’t had for so long.
Fast foward to Tuesday this week. A**** comes to the office. She is happy and we are so happy to see her. She tells us this story. When she went home she kept taking her HIV medicine. When her prescription was done she went to get it refilled. They test the blood each month before giving the prescription so they get the right dosage of medicine. She has been testing and taking medicines every month for 7 years. Her test results came back NEGATIVE!!! The doctor couldn’t believe it. The only logical explanation he could give was that their machine was broken. He then referred her to the local government hospital. It is a large hospital. The doctor tested her there. Also NEGATIVE!!! He made her test 10 times. He had never seen anything like this and just couldn’t believe it. Even A**** was having a hard time believing it. Could it really be? That is what she kept asking herself. So she went to another city and got tested again at another center clinic. NEGATIVE!!!
I was shaking. My heart was beating out of my chest. God had truly made her clean, transformed her, made her a new creation. We decided to have her go to our local clinic that we trust for our family and we know the Doctor well. She tested again. I waited for the phone call on what the results would be. Susan, one of my staff members and dear friend , called….NEGATIVE!!! She is HIV/AIDS free!! She was bouncing up and down and hugging us like crazy. What Satan meant for evil God had truly used for good. Satan tried to sell her into slavery and God set her free from slavery. Satan used a lie that she could be healed and God actually healed her spiritually, then physically. She wanted to go back to her home to her city, and God brought her back home to Him through the love and punishment Jesus suffered for her.
God is so good! Welcome home and to the body of Christ A****. We love you!!! Thank you for those of you who make it possible for us to be here and disciple people so they can go back home to the Father. He is the best Father!!!
